About Steve

Steve is currently writing The Honeymooners, based on the classic television series, which is in its developmental stage. Bill Nuss and Dusty Kay are writing the Book and Pete Mills is supplying the lyrics. A reading of the show was recently held with Jerry Mitchell directing, and a future reading is planned for Fall 2011. Rocket Science, the 2010 Richard Rodgers Award winning musical, is an adaptation of the HBO film by Jeff Blitz with Book by Patricia Cotter and Lyrics by Jason Rhyne. The show continues to be developed and workshopped in a number of forums, at The Village Theater Festival of New Musicals, Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Playwrights Horizons and most recently at the LA Music Theater Festival.

Other credits include The Hudsucker Proxy with Book and Lyrics by Glenn Slater, Once Upon a Time in New Jersey with Book and Lyrics by Susan DiLallo, who also wrote the Book for Iron Curtain (Lyrics by Peter Mills), which won the New York Innovative Theater Award. New Jersey had its UK premiere at the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts, and both New Jersey and Iron Curtain have played at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Festival of New Musicals at The Village Theater in Seattle. Steve’s first show, a country musical, Spittin’ Image (Book by Karin Kasdin, Lyrics by Laura Szabo Cohen) played at the Forum Theater in Metuchen, New Jersey. Concert and cabaret work includes Music of Stephen Weiner: Songs of Love and Aggravation at NYMF, a recent stint at the New Voices Concert Series hosted by Scott Alan, and venues around the city, including Sardis, The Russian Tea Room, and The York Theater.
